ABOUT US
Originally a partnership, the Beck Brothers opened the elevator to local area farmers in 1966. Darwin Beck went on to purchase it from his brothers to become the sole owner, and in 1978 Ridgeville Elevator, Inc. was formed. In the next several years, he would go on to create steady growth for the Ridgeville Elevator, and began to expand.
- 1986 purchased ZehraCo fertilizer plants in Gerald & Ridgeville. This became the Gerald Ag Center, and Ridge Fertilizer.
- 1999 purchased Clady Elevator in Malinta, now known as the Elery branch
- 2001 purchased a location from Pettisville Grain now known as the Fayette branch.
Darwin had an admirable amount of passion for his work at the elevator, and was driven by a vision of improvement. This vision extended beyond his own business, and included the community of Ridgeville Corners, where he was born and raised. Darwin set out to develop several small businesses outside of the agricultural industry to promote growth; including Ridgeville's first bank, and an ice cream shop. He would also become the founder of the Ridgeville Park.
Although he passed on in 2019, his legacy endures in the lives of his friends, family, and acquaintances that he has inspired to pursue their goals, and live a life full of integrity and humility.
